Apostilles

This procedure consists of certifying that the signature and seal of a public document were placed by an authority in use of its faculties. The apostille, just like the legalization, only certifies that the signature or stamp that shows the document was issued by a public official in the exercise of its functions, but it does not certify the validity of the content itself.

Legalization

The legalization of the signature or seal contained in public documents is an act of certification by means of which the consular officer certifies that the signature or seal that is located within their circumscription, coincides with the signature or seal registered in their files.

For documents abroad to be valid in our country, it is important that they are translated by experts authorized by the corresponding Mexican authorities.

Immigration Survey

The proper way to apply for temporary residency in Mexico

• Get an interview at the Mexican consulate near your hometown: +1 (424) 309-0009

• Gather all requirements to be eligible to be a temporary resident: your nearest consulate has a website, and there will be all the requirements you will have to present at the interview.

• After being approved at the Mexican consulate, you will get a hologram on your passport that you will have to show at the immigration office in Mexico. You will plan the trip to exchange the hologram visa for a plastic card that will say temporary resident. This card will expire in a year, and then you will have to renew for 3 more years. And then automatically you will qualify for permanent residency in Mexico

• To exchange the hologram for a plastic card, you will present an immigration file at the immigration office in Los Cabos. This file is a set of immigration forms, and the requirements must be correct and in Spanish, and that is what I do. I present the file and do the talking at the immigration office.

Timeframe of immigration status: Temporary resident for 4 years, permanent resident indefinitely until you are ready for the Mexican citizenship (test in Spanish)

Immigration law gives many ways to be eligible; therefore, the answers to the survey help a lot with the process.
