On the second stage a file will be presented alone with all your personal documentation, therefore this file will remain in the immigration office.  

 

The government immigration fees will be paid by debit or credit card.

 

Depending on the type of status (temporary or permanent)

 

The process to obtain residency in Mexico consists of two stages

1.- starts with presenting requirements at Mexican consulate within USA/CANADA, the requirements must be presented in original and photocopy along with an interview with the consul on duty. After you fulfill the requirements for temporary or permanent residency then you will get a hologram on your passport.

30 days to get to Mexico

2.- After getting your hologram you will have 30 days to get to Mexico and present an immigration file with all your documentation and the same day you will get your temporary / permanent card. There will be government immigration fees to pay at immigration office.

The same day the file is presented you will get:

Unique Population Registry Code CURP

Fingerprint taken 

Photo taken

Plastic card

Requirements:

 

Appointment confirmed printed.

Valid Passport or Identity Travel Document (sheets available for visa stamping). Original and a copy.

A front photograph passport size with visible face without glasses, color printed, passport size with white background. No earrings, no piercings.

Original and copy of document proving their legal status in the country. This requirement does not apply to U.S. nationals.

Pay non refundable fees $50.00 USD (Card o cash accepted)

Interview with the consul Agent

The most important thing is to give the consul reasons why he should approve permanent instead of temporary status. 

 

 Having more than 3 properties in Mexico does not guaranty the permanent status.
